CVCBD is seeking artists and visual creatives to bring original artwork into public spaces throughout Greater Charles Village.

Artists will be selected based on qualifications, portfolio, experience, creative approach, and the ability to create artwork suited to public spaces.

NO NEW ARTWORK IS REQUIRED TO APPLY.

LITTER CAN
WRAPS

Selected artwork will transform public litter receptacles into colorful pieces of public art throughout the district. One-third of each wrap must feature the CVCBD logo shown on this page over a solid-color background; artists can use the remaining area for their original artwork.

STREET
BANNERS

Selected artwork will appear on vertical street banners along neighborhood streets and commercial corridors. One-third of each banner must feature the CVCBD logo shown on this page over a solid-color background; artists can use the remaining area for their original artwork.

FROM PORTFOLIO TO PUBLIC ART

Selected artists may be commissioned by CVCBD to develop artwork for litter can wraps, street banners, or both. The process may include concept development, review and reasonable revisions, adaptation to production templates, production-ready files, and coordination with CVCBD and production vendors.

THE SELECTED ARTIST WILL BE PAID $500.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW.

Who can apply?

Local and regional artists, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, muralists, digital artists, printmakers, and other visual creatives are welcome. Emerging artists are encouraged to apply; previous public-art experience is not required.

Do I need to create new artwork to apply?

No. Submit your qualifications and 5–10 examples of existing work. No speculative artwork or new designs are required to apply.

Can I apply for both litter can wraps and street banners?

Yes! Artists may apply for either opportunity or both. Both formats must reserve one-third of the design for the official CVCBD logo over a solid color.

Will the selected artist be paid?

Yes. The selected artist will be paid $500 to design production pieces for the initiative. The design process may include concept development, reasonable revisions, and preparation of production-ready artwork.

Do I have to attend the information webinar?

No. Attendance is optional and does not affect your eligibility. Join us January 13, 2027, at 1 p.m. Eastern to learn about the opportunity and ask questions. Register for the webinar.

How do I apply, and how will artists be selected?

Submit your application through Jotform, including your artist statement, qualifications, portfolio samples, project interest, community connection, and availability. Selection will consider creativity, portfolio quality, public-space potential, community connection, and professionalism.
